Stage 2- Execution

The last time, we talked about onboarding a remote team to take care of your back-end operations in the part 1 of our series. The next step is to execute your operational changes. As soon as you conclude the planning phase of onboarding a remote back-end operations team, you will be looking to dive straight into delegating relevant tasks to your newly minted team members! Here are some things you should consider:

Prepare a brief orientation

Just as you would with a physically present team member that joins your team, you will need to orient your new staff to their job roles and expectations. You may want to chalk out all the necessary information and requirements of your organization in this orientation. By doing so, both the parties- you and your remote service provider can be on the same page and have a clear understanding of what your ultimate, collective organizational goals are in the long run.

Deal with a single outsourcing provider

When you work with multiple recruitment outsourcing agencies for different functions, you can get bogged down playing ‘follow-up’ over and over again. If you can find a remote provider who has the expertise to handle multiple services, your life will become easier in terms of reporting and follow up. Having a single agency will also boost accountability as you will know exactly who is responsible for all of your outsourced tasks at any given time.

Following up regularly

To maintain a healthy working relationship, you need to go beyond mere transactional give-and-take. Sure, you need to follow up on daily assigned tasks so you have a fair idea of how far your new team is progressing. However, in order to truly engage your new staff and drive your process forward, you will need your remote team to buy into your overall goals and become active contributors to your cause. Regular follow-ups are essential if you want to understand where your remote back-end team is facing issues so you can resolve them quickly to drive impactful results.

Driving results

Remote back-end teams are regularly expected to work collectively and collaboratively with other departments. Here’s how you can drive results from your remote back-end team to ensure that they are productive, innovative and agile in completing their work.

  • Keep all communication channels open so that they can approach you about new insights leading to the growth of your business.
  • Maintain consistency to ensure cumulative momentum in productivity.
  • Build trust to let them know that you trust their decisions and give them the liberty to contribute new ideas.
  • Motivate employees with regular leadership activities to ensure reduced turnover and absenteeism.

Execution is the most challenging part of any strategy implementation and requires a lot of attention when managing a remote back-end team. Like this series on working with remote teams? This is part 2 of our 3-series blog. Keep checking our blogs for the final part.
